The Emporia State soccer team climbed out of a 2-0 hole to stun #16 Washburn 3-2 in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at Yager Stadium on Sunday. The No. 2 seed host scored less than two minutes into the match before capitalizing 15 minutes later to lead 2-0, but the No. 7 seed Lady Hornets got one goal back when Ella Favot netted her seventh of the year on an Aubrey Seltman assist. ESU tied it on a Ruby Ryan score on an Abby Bachman corner kick before taking the lead when Kylie Richardson scored on an assist from Megan Kephart. Mackenzi Goen made three saves in the final five minutes to seal the win. ESU (9-5-5) heads to Wichita to face No. 6 seed Central Oklahoma on Thursday in the semifinals. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
