Formal charges are pending against two Wichita residents after a traffic stop outside Emporia led to arrests late Monday night.
The Kansas Highway Patrol arrested 62-year-old Jeffrey Jon Sperry and 43-year-old Elizabeth Jean Thomsen after the traffic stop at the Kansas Turnpike Emporia exit led to a K-9 search. Both were arrested on suspicion of drug distribution and aggravated child endangerment. Sperry was also arrested on suspicion of criminal possession of a weapon by a felon.
Additional details are pending. The Highway Patrol says this is part of an ongoing active investigation.
