An Emporia man was sentenced to probation this week for allegedly setting a fire inside a local apartment complex.
Mitchell Lindsey received 12 months of probation for setting a fire inside College Apartments, 132 West 12th, with at least one person inside this past July. There is an underlying prison term of six months for probation violations.
Lindsey had originally been charged with aggravated arson but reached a plea on an attempted arson count in September.
A separate Lyon County arson case took a step forward Wednesday when Emporian Miguel Renterio was set for a pretrial hearing Dec. 19 following a preliminary hearing.
Renterio is charged with one count of arson for allegedly setting a van on fire near South and Neosho late last month.
