The Emporia State women’s basketball team gave up a big third quarter and fell 60-48 to Minnesota State-Moorhead at the D2 Central Region Showcase at the St. Joseph Civic Arena on Saturday. The Lady Hornets battled the Dragons to a 26-all tie at the half, but Moorhead pulled in front by outscoring E-State 17-7 in the third frame. Moorhead lead by as many as 15 in the fourth. Kaitlin Sanders notched her second double-digit scoring game with 14 points while Makenzie McDaniel scored 12 points to go along with a game-high seven rebounds. ESU struggled again from the outside finishing just 3-for-15 from outside the arc and was outrebounded 38-29. ESU (0-2) plays its first true road test Tuesday at former MIAA foe Southwest Baptist. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. with coverage beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Mix 104.9.
