A controlled burn in Neosho Rapids got relatively close to a structure and an unlisted number of vehicles Sunday afternoon.
Hartford-Neosho Rapids Fire Chief Greg Zumbrunn says issues developed at 115 South Main in Neosho Rapids around 2:20 pm. Zumbrunn says an unnamed homeowner was handling a controlled burn of a brush pile that lit a second brush pile on fire. The second pile was about 50 feet from the structure and the vehicles, but Hartford-Neosho Rapids got the fire under control quickly.
Zumbrunn says there were no injuries or damage to property as a result of this incident.
