Junior linebacker Landon Boss has been named the MIAA Football Defensive Player of the Year for the Hornets following a standout first season in Black & Gold. Boss wrapped up the season with 101 tackles and recorded three sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, two interceptions and two forced fumbles. He was the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week a league-high three times and led the league in solo tackles and sacks. Boss was named to the First Team All-MIAA Defense unanimously.
Malik O’Atis was named First Team offense after a career year with 72 catches, 721 yards, and seven receiving touchdowns. Dylan Davidson is the MIAA’s First Team punter with an average of 43.6 yards per kick in 2025.
Talon Wheeler was named to the Second Team offense on the offensive line while Tyler Schultze was Second Team defense after registering 14 pass breakups and one interception. He led the league in passes defended. Kingsley Bennett was named to the Third Team offense with 50 catches in his senior season in Emporia tallying 633 yards and seven touchdowns. Offensive tackle Trevion Mitchell joined him on the Third Team Offense. Caden Dodson was the Third Team kicker after nailing the fourth-most field goals in the conference and the third best field goal percentage.
Running back Diego Cearns, linebacker Gabe Booker, defensive back Peyton Taylor, and safety Nehemiah Figueroa were all named Honorable Mention. The Hornets finished 5-6 with a 4-5 record in the MIAA.
