All three Osage County deputies hit by gunfire in a fatal shooting incident near Carbondale this past weekend have been released from the hospital.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells had previously mentioned Deputy Christian Moran, Corporal Clayton Hartpence and K-9 Deputy James Cason as the deputies injured. All three are now recovering at their homes.
Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Ellis was also hit and is still hospitalized. The Highway Patrol says Ellis was hit twice by bullets. He is in stable condition at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. Ellis was one of two troopers at the scene.
Law enforcement responded to a domestic violence call just north of Carbondale on Saturday morning. The response quickly turned to gunfire. The suspect, 22-year-old Stephen McMillan, was killed. McMillan’s 77-year-old grandfather was hurt.
