The Emporia Community Foundation has announced the latest recipients of grant funding through the Sadie Jones Fund.
In all, this round of grants totals over $13,000. Emporia Christian School received almost $3,900 to finish updating the school’s Crisis Management Program, while Chase County Elementary School got $3,500, Lord’s Lambs Preschool got $2,400 to buy a mobile defibrillator and Radical Life got $3,000 for a play environment at its new location, the former First Friends Church at 528 Sylvan.
The Sadie Jones Fund also paid for eyeglasses for an unspecified individual.
The fund was created by Sadie Jones, a teacher in Lyon and Chase counties in the late 1880s. The fund was established to provide money for health and safety projects in both counties, including money for vision and hearing assistance ventures.
