Emporia State University’s King Lake will soon have some more inhabitants, thanks to cooperative efforts between the university and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism.
The university announced Monday it is set to receive three stockings of rainbow trout starting around December 1. Two more stockings in January and February will follow, bringing a total of roughly 1,500 fish.
Fishing will be permitted at King Lake from December 1 through March 31. All anglers will have to possess a valid trout permit, and the daily limit will be five trout.
