Emporia High basketball will begin a new season in December. Evan Burns takes over a team that went 12-9 with All-Centennial League First Teamer, Rylan Crowell, back in the lineup.
Coach Burns loves the buy-in and depth of his team.
The Spartans should be fun to watch as Coach Burns wants to push the pace.
Crowell led the black and red in scoring last year and working on his shot was a big focus of the offseason.
In his junior year, Emporia was eliminated in the Sub-State semifinal to Maize South. The All-League performer wants to make it further in the playoffs this year.
Crowell is also a big fan of the new playstyle.
Harry Trelc is another top returner for the Spartans. He averaged over 8 ppg as a sophomore. He hopes for the team and himself to make a big jump this year.
The season starts on Tuesday, December 2 as Emporia hosts a girl/boy doubleheader against Wichita North. Majority of the games will be broadcasted on the KVOE network.
