Lyon County Commissioners have taken the latest step in the process of securing bonding for a major construction project.
During their regular meeting Wednesday morning, commissioners approved paying a $19,000 invoice to S&P Global for analytical services for the county’s PBC bond issue. In simple terms, the county received a bond rating from the company that assesses the county’s bond security, or ability to pay off the cost of a bond.
The county received an A+ rating, indicating it is in a strong position. The rating will go a long way in helping the county secure a better than $5 million bond for the new 911 communications facility and shooting range project.
According to Lyon County Controller Dan Williams, there are still several steps that need to occur before the county receives said bond, with work set to continue on the matter through the remainder of the calendar year.
In other business Wednesday, commissioners approved the purchase of a 2026 1500 Silverado for a total of just over $49,200 for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office. County commissioners will reconvene for their weekly meeting next Friday at 9 am inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
