Next year, the Lyon County Historical Society will have a new leader.
Longtime Director Greg Jordan is retiring, making the announcement on KVOE’s On-Air Chat this week.
Jordan’s wife and longtime Deputy Director, Lisa Soller, will succeed Jordan no later than June 1. Plans are underway to find Soller’s replacement.
Soller says the deputy director hire is part of a larger look to the future for the Historical Society.
Jordan says the Historical Society is in good hands with the changeover.
Jordan has directed the Historical Society the last 29 years after working for a time with his father’s education software business. Soller, meanwhile, started with the Historical Society as a special projects specialist before getting hired full-time in 2014.
Jordan and Soller will now work together on the leadership transition. Once the changeover is complete, Jordan — who was recently given the Distinguished Service Award by the Kansas Museums Association — will be the Historical Society’s director emeritus.
