Longtime professor and community servant Bob Grover has passed away.
Grover was born in La Porte, Indiana, receiving several degrees from Indiana University and Ball State University before coming to Emporia State University. From 1981-2008, Grover served ESU in several roles, including professor and dean of the School of Library and Information Management, associate vice president for academic affairs and dean of graduate studies. Grover also worked for other universities, including University of Southern California and University of Southern Florida.
Grover was active in several community roles, includig leadership for the Emporia Lions Club and positions in the Empori Area and Kansas Retired School Personnel, Silver Haired Legislature, American Library Association, Kansas Library Association and League of Women Voters Emporia chapter.
A celebration of life will be at Emporia’s First United Methodist Church at 11 am Dec. 5. Visitation will be Dec. 4 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
