Two juveniles are in custody following a vehicle pursuit in Chase County Saturday afternoon.
According to a news release from the Chase County Sheriffs Office, a report of a missing juvenile believed to be traveling through the county was filed with the Sheriff’s Office just after 1 pm. A Sheriff’s Deputy later located a vehicle believed to be driven by missing juvenile four miles west of Strong City and initiated a traffic stop.
Two juveniles were inside of the vehicle and during the stop allegedly provided false names to law enforcement. While the officer was verifying their information the vehicle fled the stop and entered Strong City before coming to a stop in the 600 block of East 5th Street.
The juveniles then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but were apprehended shortly after. The driver was confirmed to be the missing juvenile reported earlier in the day who was arrested on suspicion of felony flee and elude, minor in possession of alcohol and interference with law enforcement.
The passenger was charged with interference with law enforcement and minor in possession of alcohol. Both juveniles were classified as a child in need of care.
No names are being released and formal charges are pending at last word.
