The city of Eureka is getting state funds for a significant renovation project.
The city is looking to reconstruct Jefferson Street, which lies on the east side of the Eureka Junior and Senior High campus, as well as Marshall Elementary.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Calvin Reed say the fall funding round uses almost $3.3 million in local matching funds to generate more than $9 million in infrastructure improvements for the 10 beneficiaries. The cost share program is part of the state’s 10-year Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program, more commonly known as IKE, and is designed to help communities in several ways — safety enhancements, job growth and retention, congestion reduction and access and mobility improvements.
