Emporia Main Street is bringing the jolly to downtown Emporia this week and the rest of the holiday season.
Carriage rides begin Thursday, in partnership with Community National Bank. Main Street Director Casey Woods says it’s a good way to experience all downtown Emporia has to offer for the holidays.
Carriages can hold as many as 10 people.
Rides will also be available Dec. 11 and 18. Rides will be from 5-8 pm. Tickets are $10 each and are on sale online at emporiamainstreet.com.
Main Street is also deep into its annual Holiday Soldier Care Package Drive. Woods says soldiers enjoy the “taste of home” offered by the donations, especially if there are unique local products involved.
Woods says it’s a drive that makes sense, given Emporia’s status as the founding city of Veterans Day — and it has a reach well beyond area soldiers.
Items and financial donations are being collected through Dec. 13, with items like hygiene products, socks, puzzles, games, art supplies and snacks going to four different military units currently overseas and money paying for postage.
