Emporia Fire responded to two gas leaks and a vehicle fire Wednesday.
Gas leaks were reported in the 1000 block of East 12th and the alley in the 200 block of Union. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says both incidents were the result of digging by IdeaTek’s contractor as the company continues its fiber network construction across Emporia. There were no injuries and no mandatory evacuations at either site.
Firefighters also responded to a car fire at the intersection of Roads 173 and B-5. The car was a total loss. A cause is unclear. No injuries were reported.
