Almost four years to the day after fire destroyed an apartment complex near the Emporia State University campus, the incident is back in the headlines.
The Hornets Pointe complex at 1325 Merchant was destroyed by a fire that developed in the early-morning hours of Dec. 12, 2021. The investigation has had signs of being “incendiary in nature” and is still considered an arson incident. Nobody was hurt, but the walls were severely compromised and all the interior contents were incinerated.
Lyon County Crime Stoppers says the Emporia Fire Department and other agencies are asking for people to give any information they have about this incident. There is now a reward of up to $1,000 through Crime Stoppers if anonymous tips lead to arrests and convictions.
