Two mobile homes and a shed were damaged by fire in east Emporia Friday afternoon.
Emporia Fire, Olpe Fire and the Emporia Police Department were called to 1302 East Street, Emporia Estates, lot 46 1/2 just after 3:30 pm for a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found two mobile homes, lot 46 1/2 and 47, and a shed were heavily involved with flames and managed to contain and extinguish the blaze quickly without further incident.
The fire did not spread to any adjacent properties or businesses and nobody was injured. A full damage report, cause and origin point are currently pending an ongoing investigation by the Emporia Fire Department.
In addition to emergency crews, Evergy and Kansas Gas were called to the scene. Traffic on East 12th was blocked from Topeka to Sylvan Street for a little over an hour as crews battled the blaze.

It now appears more than one structure was either damaged or destroyed earlier Friday in east Emporia.
Emporia firefighters joined other departments, local law enforcement and utility companies at Emporia Estates, 702 East 12th, as fire was reported just after 3:30 pm. Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley says the fire caused damage to units 46 1/2 and 47 as well as at least one nearby tree. Crews also searched the units for any people inside, finding none.
Evergy responded but has been released from the scene. Firefighters, law enforcement and Kansas Gas remain on scene as of 5 pm.
A cause is under investigation.
Twelfth has reopened between Sylvan and Topeka after it was blocked for nearly 90 minutes. East is now blocked between 12th and 13th until further notice.
The dwellings are just north of Do-B’s, which was unaffected by the fire.

4 pm Friday: Building near Do-B’s catches fire
Part of East 12th Avenue is blocked as part of a heavy response to what appears to be a destructive fire Friday.
Crews were dispatched to the Emporia Estates property just north of Do-B’s shortly after 3:30 pm. Smoke and flames were evident until firefighters began attacking the fire.
At this time, other details about the fire are pending. Twelfth is blocked between Sylvan and Topeka until further notice.
