There has been another delay as a federal drug distribution case continues against two Emporians, a Texas man and two Mexican nationals arrested this past spring.
Late last week, Judge Holly Teeter approved a 30-day delay of a status conference so Mexican national Omar Villa-Carranza’s legal team can review English-language transcripts of Spanish-language interviews. The new hearing date is Jan. 23 and includes fellow Mexican resident Tiburcio Ayala-Rangel, Texan Moises Cervantes-Sanches and Emporians Tory Wagaman and Jesus Cruz-Rodriguez.
This is the fifth continuance in this case as overall court proceedings advance behind the scenes. All five are charged with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, as well as possession with intent to distribute, as part of an alleged drug distribution ring that involved trips from Mexico to Emporia and back between January and May.
