It was a game of runs in both sides of Tuesday’s Area Game of the Week doubleheader as Lebo and Madison split the night.
In the girls’ contest, Lebo shut out Madison 13-0 in the first quarter to build a sizeable lead before the Lady Bulldogs went on a run of their own in the second, outscoring Lebo 14-0 through the first six minutes. Lebo would manage to recover and take a 17-14 lead into the half and outscored Madison 16-10 in the second half to pick up a hard-fought 31-24 road win.
The Lady Wolves were led in scoring by junior Maya Wilson with 17 points. Lebo improves to 4-2 on the season while Madison falls to 3-2.
The boys’ game would mirror the girls’ contest in the first half, with Lebo getting out to an early 6-0 lead before the Bulldogs tied it up and began a series of lead changes. The Wolves managed to wrestle the lead back 30-24 at the half and would build the lead to 12 midway through the third quarter.
Madison would cut the lead to five heading into the fourth and went on to outscore Lebo 21-9 in the final quarter to improve to 5-1 on the year with a 56-49 victory. Madison senior Octavian Dean led all scorers with 35 points on the night.
Madison junior Brayden Grimmett also ended the night in double figures with 10 points. Lebo had three players end the night with double digits led by sophomores Gerek Reber and Brock Hadley with 12 points each. Fellow sophomore Jaden Blount added 11 on the night.
