With Ken Hush retired and Matthew Baker coming on board in early March, the Kansas Board of Regents have appointed an interim president for Emporia State University.
Dr Taylor Kriley, currently the Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success, received the nod Thursday. Board of Regents Chair Blake Benson says Kriley “cares deeply about the university and the students it serves.”
Kriley calls this “an exciting time” for her and the university.
Kriley expects a lot of conversations and communication over the next few months, but the general message Baker provided during his presidential announcement last week is loud and clear.
Kriley has graduate and undergraduate degrees in School Counseling and Communication with a minor in Leadership Studies from Emporia State. She also has a doctorate in leadership in higher education from Baker University.
Hush officially entered retirement Wednesday after four years leading ESU. Baker’s first official day as president is tentatively March 2 after serving in numerous roles at Northwest Missouri State University almost continuously since 1993, including director of residential life, dean of students and his current role, vice president of student affairs.
