Delays in shipping propane have prompted Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to issue a state of disaster emergency across Kansas.
The governor says Kansas and neighboring states are seeing issues with propane deliveries for residential customers. This is causing lines at fuel terminals, causing both supply delivery disruptions and a need for drivers to increase their hours so propane can be sent.
Besides activating the state’s disaster response and recovery aspects of the Kansas Response Plan, Governor Kelly has also suspended any laws limiting timely responses to heating fuel deliveries. The Kansas Corporation Commission then followed by temporarily waiving federal regulations that limit the service hours for motor carriers directly involved in heating fuel transport.
The proclamation goes through New Year’s Eve.
