An Emporia man was involved but not hurt in a five-vehicle crash in Johnson County on Friday.
The crash happened on Interstate 35 northbound near College Boulevard in Lenexa shortly after 8 am. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 32-year-old Carlos Pena-Hernandez of Emporia was driving a pickup hauling a trailer when four other vehicles collided as part of a chain-reaction crash. Pena-Hernandez made what troopers call “an avoidance maneuver” but hit the barrier wall in the process.
One person was taken to Overland Park Regional Medical Center afterward with suspected minor injuries.
