With a new leader for the division, Emporia’s Solid Waste Department is also bringing on board a new online information platform.
Sanitation spokesman Derek Wells is glad to announce ReCollect because of the information people can access online.
More information about ReCollect is available through emporiaks.gov/recollect. Wells says this is part of the city’s partnership with Routeware developed earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the city of Emporia’s new Solid Waste manager may be new to her position, but she brings over two decades of experience to her new role.
Tina Weeks was appointed recently and announced last week. Weeks has been a city employee for more than 20 years, working with solid waste and recycling matters, snow removal and heavy equipment throughout her career. Weeks says she plans to focus on efficiency, safety and cost containment while keeping city services at high levels. She also wants to improve and “strengthen” staffing levels in her division, as well as work to promote ReCollect.
Previous supervisor Keith Senn retired earlier this year.
