The holidays are a time of joy, of family…and of extra trash.
Sanitation spokesman Derek Wells says the city of Emporia is ready for that extra rubbish.
Wells encourages residents to take extra steps with their trash so it doesn’t head across the street to a neighbor.
Special procedures for trash and recycling will be available through New Year’s Eve. Wrapping paper cannot be recycled. If you are recycling, be sure to break down the cardboard boxes.
Also, once again, the city will accept live Christmas trees at no cost to residents.
Trees need to be unbagged with all decorations removed before they are taken to the city drop-off points. There will be no curbside pickups for Christmas trees.
More information is available at emporiaks.gov/recollect or on the city’s social media platforms.
