A Wichita man is awaiting word on formal charges after a Christmas Eve incident allegedly involving an attempt to run a person over with a vehicle.
Greenwood County Undersheriff Jason Myers says there was a report of a disturbance and reckless diving in the 2200 block of 40th Street near Fall River Lake around 7:30 pm Wednesday. Deputies were told 43-year-old Michael Epperson had been at a family function nearby and was possibly intoxicated before leaving the area.
Deputies did not find Epperson when they checked, but they were called back around 11:30 pm after somebody reported Epperson had returned, caused a disturbance and tried to hit a family member with his vehicle. A second search led to Epperson at a convenience store parking lot.
Epperson was arrested without further incident on suspicion of aggravated assault, theft, driving with a suspended license and vehicle registration violations.
