The 2025 Kansas corn harvest appears it will set a state record, and several area operations did extremely well at the district level in the Kansas Corn Yield Contest.
*Parker Meats of Coffey County won the East Central Dryland competition at 279.61 bushels an acre. Joe Heathman of Chase County was second at 232.44 bushels. David Sutherland of Coffey County took third at 223.44 bushels
*Heathman won the Nitrogen Management Class with 182.19 bushels an acre.
Contest yields averaged over 250 bushels an acre across all entries. Kansas Corn says a lot of producers dealt with disease “pressure” at a higher level than normal.
State and district winners will be recognized at the 2026 Kansas Corn Symposium in Salina on Jan. 29.
