A brief period of wintry precipitation overnight has caused occasionally slick sidewalks and parking lots for much of the early-Saturday period, along with isolated slick streets shortly before sunrise.
The National Weather Service reported precipitation shortly before 1 am. Nothing measurable came with that report. Temperatures have stayed below freezing since 11 pm and dipped into the upper 20s shortly before 4 am.
Locally, Emporia Police officers and Lyon County deputies are reporting few slick spots and no related travel issues as of 7 am. No concerns are currently noted on the statewide Kandrive.gov website.
High temperatures should be in the mid-40s Saturday and mid-50s Sunday. Conditions are supposed to be dry until slight chances of rain Wednesday night through Thursday night.
