How the Rural Transformation Grant program will lead to improved patient care locally remains to be seen, but Newman Regional Health CEO Cathy Pimple is excited for what may be coming.
No “big check” is coming to Newman Regional Health, but Pimple tells KVOE News a goal is “to create value” in rural health care with this new federal program.
Pimple says there will be investments ahead to improve patient outcomes, but those are all yet to come before the Board of Trustees.
Over a five-year stretch, hospitals in non-urban areas are set to share the $50 billion total pot. The first announcement came just before New Year’s Eve, with Kansas receiving over $220 million. The stated goal is to expand access, improve health outcomes and strengthen rural health systems by expanding prevention programs, strengthening local access to care, protecting “value-based care,” collecting data and fostering viable rural health employment options.
