Several purchase and payment requests gained Lyon County Commission approval as part of the commission’s regular meeting Thursday morning.
This included a pair of requests from Lyon County Emergency Communications Director Roxanne Van Gundy, the first totaling $16,800 for the 2026 EMD/EFD license renewal, service, support and maintenance. The second request totaled more than $73,800 for the county’s 2026 NG911 call handling bill to the Kansas 911 Coordinating Council.
Both of these items are being paid for through county 911 funds and not taxpayer dollars. Van Gundy also sought approval to pay more than $170,000 to Motorola for the county’s SUAII service contract for the 800 radio system for 2026.
Separately, commissioners approved a request from Facilities Manager Robbie Weiss to have Funk Electric furnish and install LED flat panels and bulbs inside the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building for just over $8,600.
Empower House Ministries Executive Director Melissa Landis also delivered the agency’s quarterly operations report. The report is a requirement for the agency, which receives financial support on an annual basis from the county.
Commissioners also held a pair of non-elected personnel executive sessions for employee evaluations. Commissioners will reconvene for their regular meeting Thursday inside the Lyon County Courthouse Commission Chambers.
