Crisis services for residents in Lyon and surrounding counties are getting a financial boost from the federal government.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has announced nearly $200,000 is going to SOS as part of the VOCA program, short for Victims of Crime Act. VOCA money comes through the US Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs as part of fines and penalties from federal convictions. The grants fund items like crisis intervention, legal help, mental health services and victim advocacy among other services.
The SOS grant is part of nearly $10.5 million distributed across Kansas as part of this round of federal funding.
