The recent reaccreditation of Newman Regional Health’s Cardiac Cath Lab put the hospital and its cardiac team in rare company.
During an interview on KVOE’s Morning Show Wednesday, Newman Cardiologist Dr. Michael Lloyd explained that there are around 2,000 cath labs across the nation, with only 30 percent of those receiving the same reaccreditation through the American College of Cardiology. Of those, Newman is the only critical access hospital to hold the distinction.
Dr. Lloyd says this is a tremendous honor and one that takes a rigorous amount of preperation for.
Dr. Lloyd and Dr. Colleen Fearon both credited the work of their team for making the reaccreditation and quality of care possible.
Advanced Practice Practioner Adam Galindo says the quality of care stems from a “streamlined process” that involves individuals from various disciplines within the hospital.
Newman’s Cath Lab underwent some major renovations in the past year, including the addition of new diagnostic tools that allow cardiologists to see through arteries, assisting with procedures such as stent placement.
With American Heart Month coming up in February, Newman and the Cath Lab team are planning another Healthy Heart Fair for the community, an event that made its debut last year. The exact date and time for the event have yet to be announced, with more updates coming at a later time on Newman’s social media channels and its official website, NewmanRH.org.
