Emporia High School girls basketball coach Bill Nienstedt was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident at the Emporia city limits Friday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log, a 2023 Ford Maverick driven by Nienstedt was stopped at a stop light at 6th and Industrial at 11:50 am. While stopped, Nienstedt’s vehicle was rear-ended by a 2019 Dodge Durango, driven by 44-year-old Tosha Marie Holecek of Dodge City.
Nienstedt was taken to Newman Regional Health with suspected minor injuries; Holecek had no apparent injuries. Both individuals were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
