The Flint Hills Shootout tips off Monday at White Auditorium in Emporia, bringing together area teams for a week-long run of postseason-style basketball.
The boys tournament opens Monday, with second-round games scheduled for Thursday and the championship set for Saturday. Cair Paravel enters as the top seed. Action begins at 3 p.m. Monday with fourth-seeded Lyndon facing fifth-seeded Chase County. The second game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. features Osage City against Mission Valley. Top-seeded Cair Paravel follows in the third game of the day, taking on eighth-seeded West Franklin. Waubunsee squaring off with Council Grove finishes up the first night.
Girls competition begins Tuesday at White Auditorium and continues Friday and Saturday. Osage City earned the top seed and will open its tournament run Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against Council Grove. Tuesday’s schedule starts at 3 p.m. with fourth-seeded Mission Valley meeting fifth-seeded Chase County. That game will be followed by a matchup between Lyndon and Cair Paravel. The opening round concludes with Waubunsee taking on West Franklin.
