Hartford-Neosho Rapids firefighters handled small grass fires near Hartford on Wednesday.
Fire Chief Greg Zumbrunn says crews were toned out to a fire in the 2200 block of Road 105 shortly before 3 pm, finding around two acres on fire. The incident was resolved quickly. A cause has not been announced.
Zumbrunn says there were no injuries and no stuck vehicles. Staffers with Flint Hills National Wildlife Refuge assisted with the call. Emporia and Olpe were also dispatched but were canceled before arriving.
District 5 also went to the refuge for a second grass fire around 6:45 pm. Further details about that incident are pending.
