Game time is almost here for the 2026 Lyon County League Tournament.
Play isn’t taking place Monday because of the bitter cold, which caused all participating districts to cancel classes. Still, longtime Director Ted Vannocker expects a lot of good basketball action this week. He also says there have been some notable schedule adjustments in the past.
Monday’s games have been pushed to Tuesday, while the original Tuesday schedule is now on the previously-scheduled off-day Wednesday. Vannocker says there have been a few logistical adjustments to accommodate for the new schedule.
The is officially the 105th year for the tournament, which is among the oldest in the country at this time. Vannocker says it’s likely the longest-running boys and girls tournaments in the country. With this being his 49th year of directing the tourney, Vannocker says this is something he loves doing.
Games begin at 4 pm Tuesday. Country 101.7 FM and KVOE.com/TV will have coverage for you.
