The 105th Lyon County League Tournament tipped off Tuesday at White Auditorium in Emporia. Four teams advanced to the semifinal.
In the girls games, Lebo defeated Waverly 38 to 27. The Wolves jumped out to a 14–3 first quarter lead and were up 19–14 at halftime. Lebo led 27–21 after three and pulled away in the fourth. Ellie Grimmett led Lebo with 13 points.
MDCV rolled past Northern Heights 65 to 21. The Trojans led 15–5 after one, 36–10 at the half, and 54–20 after three on the way to the win. Emily Criqui scored 17 points to lead MDCV, with four Trojans finishing in double figures.
In boys action, Hartford edged Northern Heights 53 to 51. The Jaguars led 19–17 after the first quarter, 34–26 at halftime, and 44–39 after three. Northern Heights had a chance to tie at the buzzer, but Henry Sheeley’s shot would not fall. Coy Wilkinson led Hartford with 15 points.
Burlingame defeated Waverly 49 to 36. The Bearcats led 10–4 after one, 17–8 at halftime, and 32–18 after three. Waverly made a late push in the fourth quarter with four three-pointers to cut the deficit to single digits, but Burlingame held on. Drake Skirvin led all scorers with 30 points and 17 rebounds.
