A fire damaged an Emporia home on Tuesday night.
Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Eron Steinlage says the fire developed at 1820 Maplecrest, with emergency calls coming in around 10:50 pm. Radiant heat in the flue in the attic likely spread to nearby insulation and spread before the fire was put out. Steinlage says the fire damage was limited to the attic, but there was smoke damage throughout the home.
Nobody was hurt. Steinlage estimates around $40,000 in damage to the home and contents.
Temperatures were in the upper teens when the fire was reported.
