The 58th Annual Bluestem Classic will finally reach its conclusion this Saturday for Emporia High basketball after a week full of weather-related twists.
The tournament was forced into multiple adjustments following last weekend’s winter storm. The final day was originally moved from Saturday to Monday, but was ultimately postponed once again. Now, the Spartans will close out the Classic this Saturday morning with a matchup against Manhattan CHIEF.
Emporia High will face Manhattan CHIEF at 9:30 a.m. at Manhattan Christian College, with third place in the Bluestem Classic on the line.
The black and red opened tournament play in strong fashion, defeating Arkansas City 66–47 in the first round. Emporia’s run was halted in the semifinals with a 68–52 loss to Kapaun Mt. Carmel, setting up the third-place contest.
Tipoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Manhattan as Emporia looks to finish the Bluestem Classic on a high note.
