Alexei Perez-Ricardo has reached a plea agreement in the second-degree murder case against him in Lyon County.
Perez-Ricardo pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the death last year of Adolfo Viniegra. Single counts of aggravated battery, aggravated robbery and aggravated weapons violation by a felon were dropped.
Currently, there is no tentative sentencing agreement between prosecutors and defense attorneys. Perez-Ricardo could receive over 41 years in prison at sentencing. He could also be fined up to $300,000, and Perez-Ricardo has agreed to restitution. He will also have to register as a violent offender.
Perez-Ricardo’s plea Monday followed the announcement of jury trial, which was tentatively set to start Feb. 23. Sentencing is May 16.
