Emporia girls basketball opened the Glacier’s Edge Tournament with a 52-27 win over Lawrence Free State Thursday in Emporia.
Emporia jumped out to an early 12-5 lead and took a 16-10 advantage to the second quarter. EHS led by as many as 12 in the second, but took a 29-20 lead to half. The Lady Spartans opened the third on a 9-0 run and grew the lead to 39-23.
After nearly two weeks without game action, Bill Nienstedt’s club looked improved offensively.
Kaylee DeWitt had a game high 16 points.
Maycee Davis added 12 while Bailey Wiltz had nine.
EHS improves to 6-7.
