Housing development, debt and more are all focal points as part of the Emporia City Commission’s upcoming action and study meetings Wednesday.
As part of their action agenda, commissioners will consider a resolution to set a public hearing date to establish the Cedar Brook Meadows development as a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District (RHID). This would be the latest step in the process after the Kansas Department of Commerce certified the development’s eligibility for the status.
The proposed development would see the construction of approximately 124 single-family homes on roughly 40 acres, with all infrastructure and utilities to be installed and financed by the developer.
In other business, commissioners will consider the appointment of Gina Wichael to the Natural Resources Advisory Board and Aaron Larson, Kevin Johnson and Denise Gilligan to the Emporia Planning Commission/Board of Zoning Appeals. A bid for improvements to Lift Station 1 and an award from the KRMCA for Emporia’s Flint Hills Crossing project will also be considered.
Following the action meeting, commissioners will move into their regular study session, where they will review a debt analysis before discussing the city’s common consumption area. The action meeting will begin at 11 am inside the Municipal Courtroom before moving to the Evora Wheeler Conference Room, all inside White Auditorium.
