Greenwood County has a new member of its Sheriff’s Office.
K-9 Kraken has completed three weeks of certification training and is teamed up with Sgt Mike Cordell. Kraken is a Belgian Malinois and is certified in apprehension, article searches, narcotics detection, tracking/trailing and obedience.
Kraken replaces Kilo, who has retired after about seven years of service.
The Sheriff’s Office has recognized Matt Wilson of Eureka, as well as Larry and Sherry DeWitt of Madison, for contributions to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office K9 Fund in bringing Kraken to the force.
