Founders Day is coming soon for Emporia State University.
The official celebration is Feb. 13 at the Memorial Union Webb Hall. On KVOE’s Newsmaker segment Wednesday, Foundation Senior Director of Donor Engagement Jan Trelc said ESU has come a long way from its origins back in the 1860s.
Trelc encourages people to register quickly.
The celebration will honor new and past Kellogg Society members, with performances by ESU music programs and recognitions of the annual 1863 scholarship essay winners. Trelc says the essays are usually heartwarming.
A buffet lunch is included.
Cost is $10 a person for the lunch. Reservations are required online and the deadline for claiming a seat for lunch is the close of business Thursday. Click here for the registration link.
Founders Day highlights the development of Kansas State Normal School, now known as ESU. Founding was in 1863, with the first day of classes on Feb. 15, 1865.
