Emporia basketball swept Junction City Tuesday in Emporia.
In the girl’s game, Emporia led by as many as 32, but settled for the 48-20 win.
Despite ten first quarter turnovers the Lady Spartans built a 12-7 lead. EHS used a 6-0 to start the second to pull away and build a 22-9 advantage at half. Maycee Davis scored 12 of the 14 third quarter points as the lead grew to 36-13.
Davis had a game high 19 points.
Assistant Coach Brett Stewart added the plays for Davis were just installed.
Bailey Wiltz added ten.
The win snaps a four-game losing streak, EHS moves to 7-11 (1-4)
Emporia will welcome Hayden to town on Friday.
The boys earned their fourth league win of the season in the 50-46 victory over the Blue Jays.
The Spartans opened with the first six points and never trailed leading 12-7 after one. The lead grew to seven at half 26-19. Maddox Shivley propelled the attack with seven first half points off the bench. Junction City took the third 17-15 to cut the Emporia lead to five. The Blue Jays got to within one 44-43 with less than three a minutes to play, but they never took the lead.
Evan Burns was ecstatic with what Shively was able to do.
Harry Trelc led EHS with 15 points. Rylan Crowell added 12 while Shivley finished with nine.
Emporia improves to 15-3 (4-1).
EHS will host Hayden on Friday.
