The Emporia Friends of the Zoo (EFOZ) will once again be rounding up support for the David Traylor Zoo as the 33rd annual EFOZ Roundup Auction returns Friday, March 6.
The event will take place inside the Anderson Building at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with the live auction beginning at 6:30 p.m. Organizers say attendees can expect around 100 items up for bid during the evening.
Sally Sanchez and Colleen Mitchell recently appeared on KVOE’s Morning Show to promote the fundraiser and highlight what guests can look forward to. Sanchez said she is excited about the wide variety of auction items that will be available this year, offering something for everyone who attends.
Mitchell emphasized the importance of the fundraiser, noting that proceeds from the auction go directly toward the betterment of the David Traylor Zoo. Funds raised help support zoo operations, improvements and ongoing care for the animals.
The annual event serves as one of the zoo’s largest fundraisers. Last year’s auction brought in $131,000 to benefit the facility.
Tickets are $40 each or $320 for a table. They can be purchased by contacting the zoo office at 620-341-4365 or by visiting efoz.org.
