Emporia’s Prairie Paws Animal Shelter has a special event for pets needing shots and other items.
Prairie Paws has connected with the K-State College of Veterinary Medicine Outreach Program to offer a special vaccination clinic Saturday. From 10 am to 12:30 pm, pets can get rabies vaccines at no charge. Dogs can get free parvo and distemper shots, while cats can get free shots for feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia. Wayward pets can also get microchipped at no charge.
The limit is two pets per household. The event is using a drive-thru format. Dogs must be leashed and cats must be confined.
No appointments are needed, but residents with questions can call 620-340-6345.
