US Senator Roger Marshall has been hopscotching the state the past couple weeks as part of his Four Corners, 50 Counties tour. Thursday’s stops included one in Emporia.
Marshall spent about 45 minutes at Emporia Livestock Sales, getting updates on local operations from owner Brody Peak and giving updates on different ag policy points. He says there are a lot of positives coming from the Working Family Tax Cut bill.
Marshall also says recent trade agreements will help the overall ag economy.
Marshall also says the overall economy is working to get past inflationary policy from the Biden administration.
Marshall says visits such as the one Thursday often lead to policy adjustments.
During his tour earlier this week, Marshall visited with several producers hard-hit by wildfires that have now burned hundreds of thousands of acres in Kansas and Oklahoma. He says fires several years ago that ripped through Barber County and other Kansas counties helped to improve the Livestock Indemnity program and certain conservation programs, specially when it came to repairing fences.
