Snowflakes are a decent bet across the KVOE listening area Friday night. Accumulating snowfall is not.
There is currently a moderate chance of snowfall areawide, essentially from mid-evening Friday to around 3 am Saturday. However, most area locations can expect a dusting at best. Snow could be on the ground for the Polar Plunge fundraiser benefiting Special Olympics at Mouse Lake, but it may well be gone for activities later in the day. Any travel issues will likely be isolated.
Dry conditions are expected afterward until at least late next week.
Meanwhile, the heavy rain from last week had an impact on the US Drought Monitor, but not as much as one might think after anywhere from 1.5-4 inches of rain Feb. 13-14. Abnormally dry conditions are now gone from extreme south Lyon County, but they persist across almost all of Greenwood County and now across the southern quarter of Coffey County.
